Based in the south of Sweden, Göran Engström has been working for major national and international newspapers and magazines since 2001. Focusing primarily on international conflicts, migration, social- and health issues, his main center of attention has been South Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Scandinavian countries.
Since 2005 he has had a special focus on the conflict in Afghanistan, travelling to the war torn country several times per year. Over the past five years he has also had editorial assignments for various Swedish magazines with a total edition of more than 150 000 copies.
As a freelance journalist Göran Engström has had assignments for clients such as Sydsvenska Dagbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Offside, OmVärlden (SIDA) Barn (Save the Children), Läkartidningen, Dagens Medicin, Fysioterapi, Kyrkans tidning, Blankspot, Café, Hufvudstadsbladet (Finland), Dagens Næringsliv (Norway), Verdens Gang (Norway), Udvikling (Denmark), Once (USA).
